Your spare phone is your baby monitor.
NightEar turns two phones you already own into a baby monitor. One stays in the nursery and listens. The other goes with you and lets you hear what's going on. Everything stays on your own Wi-Fi.

- Nothing leaves your home
One word tells you how it's going.
The parent phone always shows in big letters what's going on in the nursery, each with its own colour. And if the connection drops, you'll hear it.
- Quiet
All calm. You hear the room, softly if you like.
- Sound
The baby phone hears something louder than the room itself. You get an alert.
- Crying
The sound is like crying. The phone works that out itself, nothing goes to the internet.
- 3 sSilence on the line
Three seconds of nothing from the baby phone. Your screen turns orange.
- 10 sConnection lost
Ten seconds of nothing. A loud alarm, also with your screen locked.
An alert for sound and for crying.
The baby phone compares what it hears with the room's own steady sound. When it gets louder, you get an alert. When it sounds like crying, you see: Your baby is crying. That happens on the phone itself.
- You choose how sensitive, and how long a sound must last: 1, 3 or 5 seconds.
- The baby phone learns a fan or a heater by itself.
- The alarm comes back every 30 seconds, until you tap I've seen it.
The night at a glance.
When was there sound, and how long did your baby cry? The night log on the parent phone keeps only times, never sound.
- A summary on top: how often there was sound, how long the crying, how the connection was.
- A charger that came loose or a low battery is in there too.
- Stays on your phone for 14 days and is never part of a backup.
Everything a baby monitor should do.
Live sound
Hear the nursery with half a second of delay, also with your screen locked. With Softer when it is quiet, the room plays softer between sounds.
An alarm when the connection drops
The baby phone sends sound all the time. If that stops for 10 seconds, a loud alarm sounds on the parent phone.
Talk back
Hold Talk and your voice plays in the nursery. While you talk, the room sound on your phone is muted, so there's no echo.
Take a look
A live picture of the nursery, while NightEar is open on the baby phone. With Night view for a dark room. Nothing is recorded.
Battery and charger
You always see how full the baby phone's battery is, and get an alert if the charger comes loose or the battery runs low.
More parents
Up to four phones can listen to one baby phone. Handy with two parents, or a tablet downstairs.
Ready in three steps.
You need two phones or tablets, at home on the same Wi-Fi. An old phone from the drawer is fine for the nursery.
Put NightEar on two phones.
iPhone, iPad and Android, in any mix. On one you pick This is the baby phone, on the other This is the parent phone.

The baby phone shows a QR code, the parent phone scans it. The next evening they find each other by themselves.
Set up the baby phone.
A short list helps you: a fixed spot, the charger in, flight mode with Wi-Fi on. Then you tap Start listening.
- At least 1 metre from the cot
- Cable out of reach
- Charger connected
- Flight mode on, Wi-Fi on
- Do Not Disturb on
Everything stays in your home.
The nursery is nobody else's business. So the sound doesn't go over the internet, and not through us.
- Sound and picture only go between your own paired phones, over your own Wi-Fi.
- Encrypted, with a key only those two phones have.
- No account, no server, no ads, no tracking.
- Nothing is recorded. The night log keeps only times.
iPhone, iPad and Android, in any mix.
No new device to buy: the phone in the drawer becomes the baby phone.
- +iPhone and iPhoneYour own iPhone with you, an old one in the nursery.
- +iPhone and AndroidMixed works too: grandad's or grandma's phone joins right in.
- +iPad in the nurseryAn iPad as the baby phone, your phone as the parent phone.
- +Android and a tabletAn old Android in the nursery, the tablet downstairs.
You need: an iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or later, or an Android phone or tablet with Android 10 or later. Both on the same Wi-Fi network at home.
A few simple rules.
Not a medical device
NightEar lets you hear and see what happens in the nursery. It measures nothing about your baby and does not replace adult supervision.
- Place the baby phone at least 1 metre from the cot.
- Keep the charger cable out of reach.
- Never in or on the cot, and never under a blanket.
- Put the baby phone in flight mode with Wi-Fi on, so it doesn't use the mobile network.
- Test the alarm before you go to sleep.
Why does it cost nothing?
NightEar is made by A Brand New Company. We build apps and websites, and would rather show what we can do than tell you. A baby monitor you use every night is a good example of that.

What people ask.
What does NightEar cost?
Nothing. NightEar is free, with no ads, no subscription and no account. All you need is two phones or tablets you already own.
Does it work when I'm not at home?
No. NightEar only works when both phones are on the same Wi-Fi network. That way the sound never goes over the internet, and no server is needed.
Does the app have to stay open on the baby phone?
Not for listening: that carries on with the screen locked. We do suggest leaving the app open on the black night screen, on the charger. Then the baby phone can pick up listening by itself after an interruption, and Watch works too: the live picture only works while NightEar is open on the baby phone.
Is anything recorded?
No. Sound and picture only go live to your own paired phone and are not kept anywhere. The night log only keeps times, like 00:40 crying, 4 minutes.
What if the connection drops?
After 3 seconds without a signal your screen turns orange, after 10 seconds a loud alarm sounds on the parent phone, also with the screen locked. As soon as the baby phone is back, it carries on by itself. More in Help.
What about radiation?
Put the baby phone in flight mode with Wi-Fi on: the mobile network is then off and it only uses your own Wi-Fi. Place it at least 1 metre from the cot. More in Help.
